Introduction to Infectious Disease Modelling Workshop

Greetings! The Institute of Health Policy and Development Studies Health Policy Hub (IHPDS-HPH), in partnership with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the National University of Singapore, and the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, will be holding an “Introduction to Modelling Infectious Diseases Workshop” at the UNILAB Hall, 6th Floor, Henry Sy, Sr. Hall, College of Medicine, UPM. This 3-day workshop will be held on the following dates:

 

  • August 22, 2023, 1:00 PM–5:15 PM
  • August 24, 2023, 7:30 AM–5:15 PM
  • August 25, 2023, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM

 

The main objective of this workshop is to provide participants with basic modelling techniques using Microsoft Excel* that can aid decision-makers in making critical health-related decisions. It is designed for public servants, academic professors, researchers, and other health professionals who are interested in public and global health decision-making. By the end of this workshop, the participants are expected to:

  • Understand the value and limitations of models that can be used to predict disease outcomes;
  • Understand the purpose and characteristics of different types of disease models;
  • Appraise, use, and adapt different types of disease models;
  • Develop their own MS Excel based infectious disease model

 
*The workshop requires participants to bring a laptop and have basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel. In this regard, we would like to cordially invite you to attend this 3-day workshop. A fixed training fee of PHP 5,000.00 (for UP-affiliated participants) or PHP 7,000.00 (for non UP-affiliated participants) is required to participate.
