The Organization

The National Institutes of Health is led by the Executive Director, responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of existing and future research-related units and offices within the NIH. Assisting the Executive Director in these duties are the Deputy Directors and Directors who serve to strengthen the upper management and development of the NIH.

Mission: A major resource center for health research and capacity building, using the framework of “Partnerships for Better Health”

NIH New Priority Programs

The completion of the 19-story NIH building by 2022 will provide a permanent home to the 14 NIH Institutes and Centers and 17 Study Groups. It will also be home to 4 upcoming new facilities:

1. The NIH-Clinical Research Center (NIH-CRC) envisioned as a center for excellence for the conduct of clinical trials in the Philippines;

2. The Animal Research Center for small-sized laboratory animals, which will promote evidence-based research with animal experiments seeking novel treatments and vaccines for various diseases;

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), University of the Philippines Manila, is the home of research units of the University of the Philippines Manila, the country’s leading health research and development institution, and the Health Sciences Center of the UP System. With “Health for All” as its thrust, the NIH develops outputs that serve as vital guideposts in shaping national programs and policies.

26th NIH Anniversary Conference

 

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), University of the Philippines Manila,  will have a year-long commemoration of its 26th anniversary, featuring the theme,

“Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Population Health Research: Ensuring Better Health Research Practices, Interventions, Policies, and Outcomes for All.”
