NIH Holds Orientation on Technology Transfer

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), University of the Philippines Manila, held an Orientation on Technology Transfer on 28 August 2026, in collaboration with the UP Manila Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPM TTBDO). The orientation aimed to strengthen NIH researchers’ and staff’s understanding of technology transfer, intellectual property, and the processes involved in engaging with industry and technology sector partners.

PERI Hosts NIH Flag Raising Ceremony and Eye Wellness Activity

Amidst the heavy rain, the Philippine Eye Research Institute (PERI), headed by Institute Director Dr. Harvey S. Uy, hosted the Flag Raising Ceremony at the NIH grounds on 17 August 2026. In his remarks, Dr. Uy highlighted PERI’s long-standing contributions to eye health research and its continuing work in areas such as cornea, glaucoma, retina, uveitis, ocular microbiology, and pathology, including its efforts to strengthen primary eye care and improve clinical outcomes.

DTI, ADB, and UP TTBDO Visit to NIH for the HLARQC Project

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), University of the Philippines Manila welcomed representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and UP System Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO) on 5 August 2026 for a meeting on the proposed Health and Life Sciences Advanced Product Research and Quality Control Center (HLARQC) project, a sub-component of the UP System Advancing Skills, Competitiveness and Enterprise Development (ASCEND) project.

NIH Holds Technical Session on Nanopore Sequencing Technology

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), University of the Philippines Manila, in partnership with Diamed Enterprise and Oxford Nanopore Technologies, held a Technical Session on Nanopore Sequencing Technology on 23 July 2026 at the Henry Sy Sr. Building, UP Manila.
