Institute of Reproductive Health

The Institute of Reproductive Health (IRH) is a pioneering institution dedicated to advancing reproductive health through research, education, and policy development. Formally approved by the Board of Regents during their 1385th Meeting last November 2023, it is established under the National Institutes of Health, University of the Philippines Manila. IRH aims to address the reproductive health needs of Filipinos by promoting evidence-based healthcare solutions, fostering innovation, and advocating for reproductive rights.

Goals

  • Regularly provide Filipinos with research evidence and services for their sexual and reproductive health needs using state-of-the-art facilities, from bench to bedside to community, through regular dissemination and promotion with its research and policy outputs.
  • Address priority sexual and reproductive health problems by conducting nationally relevant research for developing and contributing to evidence-based training programs, guidelines, policies, and further research agenda.
  • Grow as an institution on sexual and reproductive health research through good governance and management of resources, providing opportunities and meritocratic growth of its people, through regular continuing professional educational sessions and continuing quality improvement activities.
  • Believe in the collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to address socially relevant issues through innovative research programs for the country and globally.
  • Respond to the nation's reproductive health needs through excellence, integrity, and ethical research practices and evidence based information for policy development and legislative support

 

What We Do

  • Research and Development: Conducting studies on reproductive health, maternal care, contraception, and emerging reproductive health challenges.
  • Capacity Building and Training: Providing specialized training programs for healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers to improve reproductive health services nationwide.
  • Community Engagement: Partnering with local organizations and stakeholders to promote reproductive health awareness and education.
  • Policy Advocacy: Working closely with government agencies to develop and support reproductive health policies aligned with global best practices.
