H1N1 Molecular Epidemiology
My work focuses on the molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases using conventional and next-generation sequencing for genotyping and drug-resistance detection. My current projects are looking at acquired and transmitted drug resistance in HIV in collaboration with the Department of Health to better characterize the nascent Philippine epidemic which is one of the fastest growing in the world. I have also worked on molecular epidemiology of H1N1 in the past, and I am planning to do HIV and Hepatitis B co-infection work in the near future.
