Newton Agham Programme: New Calls for Opportunity

The British Council and the Department of Science and Technology are pleased to announce current opportunities under the Newton Agham Programme. These are as follows:

  1. DOST-Newton PhD Scholarships

The aim of the Newton Agham PhD Programme is to facilitate the capacity building of individuals, and the building of sustainable, long-lasting links between UK and Philippine institutions, through the DOST-Newton PhD scholarships. The scholarships are for full-time PhD study in the UK from April 2017 until July 2020.

This opportunity is open to faculty and staff of Philippine universities or colleges.

Deadline for submission of applications is on 16.00 UK time, 10 October 2016.

  1. Researcher Links

a. Researcher Links Workshops

Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and the Philippines to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research and open doors to new international opportunities.

Researcher Links Workshop Grants in the Philippines are open to ERDT and ASTHRDP consortia members, and should target graduates for the same programmes as participants to the workshops. Only specific priority areas will be eligible for this year’s call for applications, namely: Improving environmental resilience and Agritech.

b. Researcher Links Travel Grants

Researcher Links Travel Grants provide financial support for early-career researchers in the Philippines to undertake an international research placement in the UK, and vice versa, to strengthen links for future collaboration, build research capacity and enhance the researcher's career opportunities. Researcher Links Travel Grants in the Philippines are open to early-career researchers and researchers who have a Master’s degree and a publication track record, specifically three refereed publications.

Deadline for submission of applications for both Workshop and Travel Grants is on 16.00 UK time, 19 September 2016.
